Senior Researcher

I am interested in the measurement, design and implementation of large-scale networked and distributed systems.

My broad area of research is distributed systems and networking. I seek to build systems that both advance the state-of-the-art as well as the state of practice. At VMware Research, I’m leading efforts to simplify the design and development of modern cluster managers. These days, I'm driving two projects, Sieve and DCM.

Sieve automatically tests Kubernetes controllers for reliability issues. It has already found 46 new bugs across 10 different open-source Kubernetes controllers.

DCM simplifies cluster manager development using declarative programming. Among other things, we've built a faster, more scalable and flexible Kubernetes scheduler where all scheduling policies are specified using SQL!

You can find a more up-to-date listing of my projects and publications here.
