Heidi Howard is a Research Fellow in Computer Science at Cambridge University’s Trinity Hall and an Affiliated Lecturer at Cambridge University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology. Heidi’s research sits at the intersection between the theory and practice of distributed computing and focuses on improving the resilience and consistency of distributed computer systems. Heidi received her BA in Computer Science from Cambridge University in 2014 and her PhD from Cambridge University for her research on distributed consensus in 2019. Heidi is probably most widely known for her generalizations of the widely used Paxos algorithm for solving distributed consensus, including her work on Flexible Paxos.
